Positioning of Sundial

Sundials are not exact chronometers.  So it is normally good enough to “set” the sundial according to your watch.  Just rotate the sundial in bright sunlight until the shadow on the scale agrees with the time on your watch.  If you permanently fasten the base to a deck or paving you can “adjust” the sundial to daylight-saving or regular time by loosening the bolt which holds the legs to the body:  Turn to the new position and re-tighten.
